You may be taking a walk in the eastern parts of BC and all of a sudden you are surprised by a ‘butterfly’. Stop! Have a closer look and you just might be looking at a Red-winged Clickhopper.

They are about 25cm in length and like open areas. On their hind wings they are bright red.

During the winter they are not quite fully grown. Then by early spring they moult to become adults.
