Bug Art: Snail-Killer Carabid

Snail-Killer Carabid

On the westcoast of BC there are wonderful moist forests with so many different snails and slugs.

That is where you will find the Snail-Killer Carabid prowling the forest floor looking for some delicious dinner. They are about 20mm in length and are brownish-black in colour. These elegant beetles are adapted to eating snails and slugs – just take a look at the shape of their heads! They can easily get into those hard to reach places where slugs and snails like to hide out.

If the beetle is lucky it might get to dine out on a massive Banana Slug.
